Battle of the Box Tops & Labels 2010

Hey, cut that out again! We did outstanding with our Fall Contest (approx. $1700 in Box Tops and over 6,000 Labels) so keep an eye out for them and keep cutting this winter. Do you think we can beat it? During January and the first two weeks of February, we will be having a “Boys vs. Girls” school-wide contest. The winner will have their t-shirt worn by Mrs. Yost for a day:

“We Won! Boys Rule!” or “We Won! Girls Rule!”

Each teacher will have a collection folder for boys and girls. The contest begins January 4th and ends at the start of school February 12th. Thanks for your amazing support! Let the battle begin!

Reflections Winners Announced

We'd like to thank everyone who helped with this year's Reflections program. Our PTA Reflections Commissioner Amy Peterson and her committee worked tirelessly to put on the program this year. We received over 400 entries!

Unfortunately we can only send 5 entries in each category on to the Council level of judging. We wish we could send on every entry; there were so many good ones our judges had a very hard time deciding!

Here is a list of the entries that will be moving on to Council, and also the entries that received Honorable Mentions.

Next year's theme is: "Together We Can"

"Look at Me; I'm Drug Free!" Red Ribbon Week starts Nov. 2nd

Red Ribbon Week 2009 will be held the week of November 2nd. The theme this year is “Look at Me; I’m Drug Free”. In order to make this a memorable experience, the PTA has planned a variety of daily activities for the students and their classes. We encourage parents to take time to discuss the importance of making an active choice to stay drug free. Please take time to look at the Red Ribbon Week Pledge that will be coming home soon, sign both parts of the pledge and return the student portion back to school. We will be displaying each student’s individual signed pledge at the school. Please display the home copy somewhere in your home where your child will see it often. The events planned for Red Ribbon Week are as follows:

Monday, November 2nd - “Look at Me, I’m Drug Free”
Wear: Red, Red, Red
Activity: Assembly

Tuesday, November 3rd - Being Drug Free is No Sweat
Wear: Your favorite pair of sweats
Activity: Making the words “Drug Free” on our school fence with Red Ribbon

Wednesday, November 4th - Sock It to Drugs Day
Wear: Your craziest pair of socks
Activity: There will be fun music and events outside during lunch recess

Thursday, November 5th - Put a Cap on Drugs Day

Activity: Announce winners of the poster contest

Friday, November 6th - Take a Stand for a Drug Free Land
Wear: Red, White and Blue
Activity: Students who have family that are in the Armed Services, Law Enforcement or Safety/Protection professions are invited to come to school for lunch. Please sign up in advance if you want school lunch. Don’t forget to come dressed in uniform! We will also have firemen and their trucks on the playground at lunch recess for the students to visit with.

Thank you for your support of the Foothills PTA. We encourage you to talk to your child about being drug free. For more information on Red Ribbon Week ideas DrugFree.org.
