A & D Track Jog-a-thon Money Can Still Be Turned In

A&D Track Jog-a-thon was a big success! Children at our school are getting more fit, and we are well on our way to reaching our fund raising goal. The PTA would like to thank all students, parents, volunteers and teacher for their participation and support.

Money raised for the A&D track Jog-a-thon can be turned into a teacher or to the front office until October 30th.

The Jog-a-thon kick-off for C & B track will be this Monday, October 5th and the actual Jog-a-thon will be held on October 28th. We ask that C & B track hold all donation money until the day of the Jog-a-thon.

The last day to turn in money for all tracks will be October 30th.

Box Tops Contest in Full Swing

There is only 3 1/2 weeks left in our contest to see which class can turn in the most box tops!

Don't forget to turn in those box tops; every box top turned in is a dime for our school. Collection sheet links are on the information bar of this site, right above this article. But you don't need a collection sheet to turn in box tops. Just attach box tops to any piece of paper in groups of 10. You can also turn in any extras loose. What is most important is that you turn them in.

The box top contest ends on October 23rd. For more information about box tops and the box top contest you can read other articles on this site at: http://www.foothillspta.org/search/label/Box%20Tops

Mail In "Walk More In Four" Progress Cards

It's time to mail in those "Walk More In Four" Progress cards to UDOT's SNAP program, to be entered to win some great prizes. All children in the school were given a progress card in August and were challenged to walk or bike to school at least three days a week in September.

Please do not send these cards to school!! Cards must be mailed into UDOT by October 5th. The cards are self addressed; you need only add a stamp.

Thanks to all Mustangs that made an extra effort to walk to school this month. Walking cuts down on traffic, pollution, and makes our school a safer place.

If you've lost your card, one can be printed from the UDOT website here: http://udot.utah.gov/main/uconowner.gf?n=6921103098998148 (pdf file)

Boundary Open Houses Announced for New High School

Two Open Houses have been scheduled for parents to become informed and voice their opinions about the boundary options the school district is considering for the new high school in Herriman. Even if you do not currently have a high school student, decisions made now will affect children at our school in years to come, so get informed and have your voice be heard.

October 6th & 14th from 6:30-8:30 pm at Bingham High School

October 8th & 13th from 6:30-8:30 pm at Riverton High School

"The boundary changes will have a huge impact on our school. Changes are being done in a new format that will enable the community to have a voice in the decisions concerning the new school. District officials will be on hand to answer your questions, and you will be able to look over the options available to you. You will be directed to computers where you will have the opportunity to express your feelings about the proposed options as a help to the district in making their decision," said Riverton High School Principal Brad Sorensen.

For more information and to see the maps of the four proposed boundary changes please visit the Jordan School District Site: http://www.jordandistrict.org/schools/boundaries/herriman/index.html

If you are unable to attend the open house, you can still vote for your preferred option online at the above link.

Where Does PTA's Money Go?

We have launched our Jog-a-thon fundraiser for A & D tracks. Our fundraising goal is $15,000. You may be asking yourself: "Where does all that money go?"

We all know that Utah is last in the nation in per pupil spending. That's $3,983 less than the national average* per pupil. Our teachers work for less with less.

Foothill's PTA wants to support teachers by helping to pay for activities, equipment and programs beyond what the school is able to provide.

Here are some of the things Foothills PTA will be doing this year:

Red Ribbon Week

Safety Fair

Reflections

Field Day

Class Parties

Room Parents

Student Recognition

Book Fairs

SEP Dinners for Teachers

In addition to these programs our PTA would also like to provide money for teacher's grants. This money would be made available to teachers to spend on special things that they wouldn't otherwise be able to purchase.

If PTA reaches our goal, we will donate $6,000 to pay for field trips this year. If we don't reach our goal we will donate 30% of what we do earn.

Every dollar we raise over our basic goals will allow us to offer bigger grants to teachers and also to fund other worthy programs like Junior Engineering.

PTA can make a big difference in our school, but we need your support.

PTA is only allowed one fundraiser per year so let's make it count.

PTA is only allowed one fundraiser per year.** Let’s make it count!

**Community Council also holds one fundraiser per year. Community Council is a separate entity from PTA.
